Wärtsilä Gas Solutions to supply cargo and fuel systems for two new VLEC vessels
Wärtsilä Gas Solutions has been contracted by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) to supply Cargo Handling and Fuel Gas Supply systems for two new Very Large Ethane Carrier (VLEC) vessels.
The vessels are being built for a Malaysian shipowner. Wärtsilä booked the order in Q4 2025.
Wärtsilä will deliver cargo handling and fuel gas supply systems. The scope includes engineering for process plants and sub-systems. It also includes equipment, instrumentation, and an integrated cargo control system.
HHI has selected Wärtsilä for similar VLEC projects in recent years. The company said the repeat orders reflect its strong position in the segment.
Harald Øverland, Sales Manager at Wärtsilä Gas Solutions, said the contract reinforces the company’s market leadership. He said gas carrier operators depend on safe and efficient cargo handling. He added that Wärtsilä uses its experience and in-house expertise to support safety and efficiency.
Wärtsilä will deliver the equipment to the shipyard in March 2027.
